Kernel for SharePoint Server is a professional SharePoint Recovery tool that recovers data from corrupt SharePoint (MDF) database. Basically, MS SharePoint Server is used for making data sharing easy and secure at enterprise level, as it provides the enterprise with an expedient way to allot data access permissions to limited users on a wide network. But there are times when the SharePoint (MDF) database gets corrupted or the MS SharePoint Server gets down and files and folders become inaccessible.
Such situations not only make important data inaccessible but also affect the organizational work flow. Kernel for SharePoint Server is designed to deal with such situations and to enable the SharePoint administrators to perform successful SharePoint Recovery and access important files and folders of SharePoint (MDF) database.
Kernel for SharePoint Server can efficiently extract files and folders from MDF database and can provide the MS SharePoint administrator with data that is ready to be restored in a new database. Basically, SharePoint (MDF) database is stored in MS SQL Server but when that database gets corrupt or SharePoint Server gets down the data contained in that database becomes inaccessible. There are two recovery modes are available that can be used according to the situation:
Raw File Mode: Raw recovery mode is used when only the SharePoint database is corrupt and MS SQL Server and MS SharePoint Server are in working condition. With this recovery mode, orphan SharePoint database is used to recover tables, SharePoint and SharePoint Actual folders from the corrupt database. Once SharePoint recovery is complete and SharePoint and SharePoint Actual folders are recovered, new healthy database is created and tables are restored in that database through automatically generated commit.bat file. Read Online Help for more information
Live SQL Instance Mode: Live SQL instance Mode is applicable in conditions where database is healthy but the MS SharePoint Server is down. In this recovery mode, SharePoint and SharePoint Actual folders are extracted from the SharePoint database and are uploaded in a new account created on MS SharePoint Server. Since SharePoint (MDF) database is stored in SQL server, establishing connection with the MDF database is must for starting with SharePoint recovery process. For connection establishment with the MDF database, this recovery mode provides the user with two options i.e. Connect through SQL server and Connect through UDL file. Once the database is connected with Kernel for SharePoint Server SharePoint and SharePoint Actual folders are extracted from it.
Reports: Kernel for SharePoint Server also provides the SharePoint administrator with the facility to create and save reports; these reports are saved in HTML format and can be used for further reference and proceedings.
Kernel for SharePoint Server supports MS SQL Server 2000, 2005 and 2008 and MS SharePoint Server 2007. Evaluation version of the software is available for free, which is fully functional and gives the user a fair idea about the capabilities and functions of Kernel for SharePoint Server. However, the free demo version performs complete SharePoint recovery and displays recovered folders but due to demo limitations, it does not save the recovered tables, SharePoint and SharePoint Actual folders.
